Grassroots Voices Welcome Premiers

Announcement: Grassroots people in Saskatoon and Area Demonstrate in Response to a Meeting of Canadian Premiers, July 9th to 11th.

From Tuesday, July 9 to Thursday, July 11, the Canadian premiers will be meeting in Saskatoon, on Treaty 6 territory and the Homeland of the Métis, at the Bessborough Hotel.

Many of the premiers are working to prevent meaningful action on climate change and heading governments taking regressive positions on a variety of issues.

The climate justice community of Saskatoon, including both Indigenous people and settlers, is holding a three-day demonstration in Kiwanis Park, next to the Bessborough Hotel, to demonstrate for climate action, against the TransMountain Pipeline, for our desire for a deep transition from a fossil fuel economy to a renewable energy economy, to urge action on the report of the Commission on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and to urge that an end to colonialism is required in order for positive change to occur.

We intend to maintain a physical presence in Kiwanis Park from the evening of Tuesday, July 9 until Thursday, July 11.  People concerned about issues of climate justice and Indigenous rights, and wanting to create a just and ecologically sound future, are welcome to join us at any time between Tuesday evening and Thursday evening.  In particular, we will be having speakers and performers on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and a large rally at 6:00pm on Wednesday evening.

Come and join us in our peaceful demonstration and gather together for a just and sustainable world. You can follow the Facebook page here for updates.

In solidarity,
Your friends at CJS
