SAVE THE DATE! RBC can run, but they can’t hide.
RBC is the biggest funder of fossil fuels in Canada and is currently financing Coastal Gas Link, which threatens Wet’suwet’en land and disregards Indigenous sovereignty.
In 2022, RBC moved its Annual General Meeting (AGM) online at the last minute to avoid facing Indigenous leaders. Now RBC is looking to escape accountability once again, this time by hosting their AGM at the Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon.
The AGM is a critical opportunity for shareholder to make decisions about how the bank uses their money. So, land defenders including Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs are coming to Saskatoon too!
Here’s how you can show #SolidarityWithIndigenousLandDefenders:
1- SHARE this with your neighbours, your friends, and any other organizations who would stand in solidarity with this action.
2- LEAD a #RBCFossilFool Action. Date: April 1. Location: Happening across the country. Learn more here: https://act.leadnow.ca/FossilFoolsDay/signup/
3- ATTEND Who is Financing the Destruction of our Land? A Panel Discussion with Land Defenders. Date: April 4 at 6:30 PM CST. Location: Nutrien Wonderhub.*
4- SHOW UP to the Rally to Support Indigenous Sovereignty & Climate Justice. Date: April 5. Location: Near the Bessborough Hotel.**
5- CLOSE your RBC account. Date: On or before April 5. Location: Across Canada! Here’s a guide to get you started: https://bankingonabetterfuture.org/guide-to-switching
Let’s show RBC that Saskatoon isn’t the sleepy oil-friendly city they think it is!!
*More information on the panel will be posted as it becomes available here: rbcrevealed.com/AGM-2023. This event will be livestreamed!
