Help CJS Help Afghan Climate Activists

Thanks to the generous contributions of our donors so far, in partnership with the Mennonite Central Committee we are now able to support more Afghan activists at risk. We are delighted to share with you that we will be able to support a young female university student AND a young couple who are expecting their first child.

These folks are all involved in social and environmental justice work and are at high risk of being targeted by the Taliban in their home country. They have made it to safety in Pakistan but can only stay there temporarily, so our group is moving forward with sponsorship as quickly as possible.

Now that we know who we are expecting, we have updated our fundraising goal to $45,000.

Your donations will help these refugees settle into their new homes once they arrive in Saskatoon. Any funds we don’t use will go to other trusted campaigns working to get those at high risk out of the country.

In addition to financial donations, we are also looking for folks who may be able to provide short-term or long-term housing for these activists as they settle into their new lives in Saskatoon. Such an in-kind donation would, of course, stretch the funds raised further.

Please consider donating, and share this message within your own circles. Any donation over $25 is eligible for a charitable tax receipt through Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

In-kind donations of new or gently used furniture, household equipment, etc are also welcome.
