Rally in Saskatoon Calls on Premiers and Prime Minister to Back Clean Energy Corridor
Saskatoon, SK – As premiers and the Prime Minister arrive in Saskatoon for the First Ministers’ Meeting, local climate justice advocates are organizing a public rally to call for urgent investment in a national clean energy corridor—not more pipelines.
The “Powerlines Not Pipelines” rally will take place on Sunday, June 1, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM by the Vimy Memorial Bandstand. The action will be a gathering of community members who are demanding interprovincial cooperation to build a Canada-wide renewable energy grid.
“Canada has the power to shift away from fossil fuels,” said Glenn Wright, a local climate organizer. “What we need is political courage and a commitment to connect provinces with clean electricity, not more polluting fossil energy infrastructure.”
The rally calls for a pan-Canadian clean electricity corridor, linking provinces with clean hydro, solar, and wind power to ensure a resilient and equitable energy future. Organizers are inviting people to wear green, bring signs, and show support for bold, cooperative climate action.
This peaceful, inclusive event is organized by grassroots community members and welcomes all ages.
