Bite-Size Change: Building Community Through Climate Action
Bite-Size Change (BSC) is a grassroots community education series dedicated to empowering individuals and fostering meaningful dialogue around climate and environmental issues. Launched in 2024 and continuing into 2025, these monthly gatherings provide accessible, welcoming spaces for people to come together, share ideas, and take action—one bite at a time.
Held in public venues like libraries, parks, and community halls, BSC events are designed to be inclusive and approachable. Each session explores a different climate-related theme, such as:
-
Talking about climate change with friends and family
-
Writing effective letters to City Council, the Mayor, or local newspapers
-
Discovering your role in the climate movement
-
Exploring how to engage in and expand the circular economy
Many gatherings include potluck-style meals, where attendees can connect over shared food while learning from one another. The events often feature guest speakers—local leaders, environmental experts, and community organizers—who offer inspiration and insight, but the conversations are always grounded in the lived experiences and ideas of the community.
Looking ahead to 2025, CJS and Saskatoon Climate Hub is proud to continue Bite-Size Change with new formats and fresh energy. Some upcoming events will take a more hands-on or activity-oriented approach, inviting participants to roll up their sleeves and take practical steps toward local sustainability. Whether it’s learning how to reduce waste, improve home energy use, or advocate for local climate solutions, BSC will continue to offer opportunities for action and connection.
In a time when climate news can feel overwhelming, Bite-Size Change offers something hopeful: a way to connect, to learn, and to act—together. Watch for our announcements!
