Climate Justice Saskatoon has worked to promote bold climate action in Saskatoon for many years. The 2020 municipal election is critical for maintaining the advances on climate action that have been made in the past few years and going further to do our part as a city. We want to help elect candidates that support the Low Emissions Community Plan, sustainable transportation initiatives (like a network of cycling lanes and Bus Rapid Transit), the organic waste program, a triple bottom line (decision-making focused on environmental sustainability, social equity and cultural well-being, and fiscal responsiblity) approach, and more. We are encouraging people to research their candidates, vote, and, if time, volunteer for, candidates that will advance climate justice in this community.
Our friends at the Sask Environmental Society have put together a set of questions for municipal candidates that you can find here (pdf).
You can also order an I’m Voting for Climate Action sign from our friends at EnviroCollective here.
You can read about some of the work we’ve done below, as well as listen to a couple of radio shows we put together on the topic.
