Municipal Climate Action

Climate Justice Saskatoon has worked to promote bold climate action in Saskatoon for many years. Most recently, our efforts have been geared towards supporting the development of the City of Saskatoon’s Low Emissions Community (LEC) Plan, which is a framework for meeting the City’s greenhouse gas emissions-reductions target of 80% by 2050. While we note that this target is inadequate in light of the IPCC’s call to achieve net-zero emissions by that date in order to try and limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, we do believe that the LEC Plan is a critical step forward that help put Saskatoon on the right path.

You can read about some of the work we’ve done below, as well as listen to a couple of radio shows we put together on the topic.
